Refugee Employment Services
ACS offers workforce development orientation, connections to job training, job placement and retention services. This also includes our work as a Minnesota Family Investment Program service provider for Hennepin County and the Last Chance Employment Program which is funded through a state of Minnesota equity Grant and provides employment services to people no longer eligible to receive assistance through federally funded refugee resettlement programs.
Family Stability and Refugee Social Services
ACS works with families who need guidance and assistance in overcoming barriers that prevent people and families from achieving stability by being able to simply meet their basic needs and adapt to living in a new country. Some of assistance we provide for overcoming these barriers includes finding housing; learning to navigate public transit; compliance with government regulations related to immigration and benefits; managing money; enrolling kids in school; appropriate parenting and learning how to use household appliances.
Walk-in Information and Referral
Every month, 100’s of people walk into the ACS office looking for assistance with a variety of concerns. These include filling out a form for assistance of some sort, issues with a landlord, help with creating a resume, finding a job, averting a utility shutoff resume, legal issues, enrolling in a health insurance program and many more. ACS staff provide them with direct assistance on the matter or refer them to a reliable organization that we know will do their best to help them
